Hi!
So you’ve got a portrait made by me, that’s GREAT!
If you happen to come on this page it means you need the HiRes version and I need a Model Release form from you :)
Who am I?
Hi, my name is Matteo, I’m (proudly) Italian and I’m part of that astounding, incredible, magic, super-awesone international movement of artists, visionairs, developers, infosec guys and nerds known as “Hackers”. I’ve been dabbling international conferences for over 15 years and I’ve been portraying members of this astounding community in many huge international events such as the CCC Congress, the CCC Camp, OHM, PH Neutral and various international conventions. I created my own gear (the “star in the eyes thing”) and many of my portraits are today used by my subjects as “profile” photos: IMVHO the highest form of flattery I can ask. If you’re reading this it is more than possible that I made a portrait of you and you have got a piece of paper with a number on it :)
What I’m trying to do?
I want to make with a selection of all those portraits an exibition and a book, showing the world the faces that led to the Internet Revolution, the various humanity that composes the Hacking ecosystem: it doesn’t need to be a complete portrait of the “bigger names”, but an assorted collection of day-by-day hackers, telling people we’re not a bunch of nerds, but a live core of living and enthusiastic people with only a dream: an Open World.
The name of the exhibition (and book) will be: “LOMBROSITY: Faces of Hackers (damn kids, they’re all alike)”.
It is a strong connection title between the Hacker’s Manifesto by TheMentor and the theories of Lombroso: Lombroso popularized the notion of a “born criminal” through biological determinism. in his work he theorized that Criminals have particular physiognomic attributes or deformities. If criminality was inherited, then the born criminal could be distinguised by physical atavistic stigmata, such as large jaws, high cheek bones, handle-shaped ears, hawk-like noses, or fleshy lips.
To disprove Lombroso’s theory I’m going to expose 20+ portraits side to side to demonstrate that, apart from being generally awesome, we’re of the same kind – human – but nothing more. It’s what we do, how we think and how we act that define us as Hackers, not how we appear and present ourselves.
But I need you, fellow Hacker of whom I’ve taken a portrait!
Why I need your Release Form?
Before using in any publication and/or exposition I need you, if you’re portrayed in one of my shots, to sign the “model release” to be featured in the exposition (hopefully in 2020) and in the eventual book, that will be published with all provents to be assigned to the Hermes Center for Transparency and Digital Rights (makers of Tor2Web and Globaleaks!) and freely available for download online in a CC-A-NC-SA 4.0 license, free for all to download and disseminate.
What I need is that you is that you SEND ME AN EMAIL at the address mf@mgpf.it with this content…
